Since 2016, Abbatoggia Camping Village has been working towards obtaining the Ecolabel environmental certification of quality.
Ecolabel certification, introduced by the European Community in 1992, was initially only awarded to industrial products, but was later extended to services and hospitality facilities. If a campsite, hostel or bed & breakfast displays its Ecolabel certification, this means that it succeeds in providing excellent quality services whilst respecting the environment at the same time.
Abbatoggia Camping Village considers it essential to provide high quality services with a special commitment to the environment, especially in such a beautiful and important area as the Isola della Maddalena National Park.
Shown below are some of the rules that must be followed, with the cooperation of campsite guests, to fulfil the Ecolabel criteria.
Use electricity from renewable sources;
Use energy-saving lamps;
Install switch-off mechanisms for air conditioning, or request through written notices that guests switch it off and open windows.
Water-saving showers and washbasins;
Use of at least two reference checks for eco-friendly products and/or two reference checks for mechanical cleaning systems (microfibre, vapor, products with eco-friendly certification);
Raise awareness among guests and employees through written notices of water-saving measures.
Garbage is sorted by material (wet waste, glass, plastic, cans, metal, paper and cardboard) and separate waste containers for each type are placed where they will be visible;
The campsite makes use of eco-friendly toilet paper and concentrated detergents for cleaning;
Abolition of single portion products in the provision of foodstuffs.
Include organic and/or locally-sourced products for breakfast, labelling them with a special notice;
Make organic products available to guests at the bar (e.g.: coffee, tea, fruit juices, snacks);
Offer homemade and/or handmade biscuits or cakes daily at the breakfast buffet.
Include the necessary information on the destination website to encourage the use of alternative transport means to car usage for arriving at the campsite;
Include a shuttle service made available to guests.
Provide written information to customers regarding bicycle hire services in the area;
Promote the available forms of public and/or communal transport by providing information to customers regarding services and timetables.
